On the subject of water: as a child, after uncovering fossils on rock formations and learning that the mountain on which I was hiking had been underwater millions of years ago, I began to revel in the fantasy of traversing in an oceanic world––one not unlike Atlantis, the lost civilization that had become submerged. According to astrologer Liz Greene, the longing for this sort of environment stems from an unconscious desire to return to one’s pre-birth experience in the womb, with its sensual comfort devoid of the harsh realities of the material world. Dreamscapes encapsulates such moments of exaltation within quotidian encounters––talismans of a continuous, living dream.
